In 2016, representatives of programmes, in different Spanish cities, matching elderly people and university students met in Madrid to establish possible strategies of collective impact and of networking for different intergeneraional programmes. Apart from Madrid, other cities have their own programmes: Alicante, Almería, Barcelona, Bilbao, Burgos, Castellón, Girona, Granada, Elche, Ferrol, León, Málaga, Murcia, Salamanca, Sevilla, Valencia, Valladolid and Vitoria.
Starting in 1995, Convive enables the interaction between elderly people (65+) and university students. With more than 75 ‘matches’ each year, Solidarios signed an agreement with Madrid’s local government. The elderly people gain access to the programme through public social services. The programme counts as well with the collaboration of seven public universities from Madrid.
